Tyson Fury’s team is planning three bouts for the former heavyweight champion this year, a schedule he has not achieved since 2018, as contract negotiations near completion for an April return.
Manager Spencer Brown confirmed that discussions have narrowed the field of potential opponents to four or five serious contenders, with Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov among the leading candidates.
Makhmudov last fought in October, securing a points victory against David Allen. American Brandon Moore has also been mentioned, though it remains unclear whether he is under genuine consideration.
Brown told Sky Sports that an announcement was imminent and that all parties were working to finalise arrangements.
Fury, 37, has been training in Thailand since the start of the year as he prepares for his comeback. The former two-time world champion has not fought since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.
His brother Shane offered a candid assessment of the fighter’s current condition, telling Boxing King Media that despite an unassuming physique, Fury remained fit and physically powerful.
Shane said he was uncertain whether his brother’s best days had passed but noted there were no obvious signs of decline in the Usyk rematch.
Beyond the immediate return, Fury’s camp has ambitions for fights against Anthony Joshua and Fabio Wardley, with a potential trilogy against Usyk also on the agenda.
The Ukrainian has indicated he would be willing to face Fury again, but only if the undisputed heavyweight championship is at stake.
Fury’s team intends to ease him back into competition before pursuing the division’s leading names.
